Why Forest Bathing? Forest Bathing is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness. Autumn is the perfect time to bathe in our local “forest”, find your peace among nature, meditate, breathe in deep, and journal your thoughts - your aspirations - your plans for the future. Prepare to walk at your own pace and find your own spaces guided through the woods. Sit on a stump, rest on a bench, stand and gaze at the sky up through the trees, experience the grandness of the universe and your place in it, listen to nature, write in your journal - stream of consciousness – wherever your mind leads you to, contemplate thought provoking questions – capture or reclaim your peace. On the day of: • Arrive at Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens (1550 Anacostia Ave NE, Washington, DC 20019) and find free parking in a secure lot. • A few steps from the parking lot, check in at the park entrance. • Pick up your journal and pen (provided by IAWH). • Gather with the small group, led by our instructor, Carolyn Woods, Certified Forest Bathing Instructor. • Bathe in the woods experiencing oneness with nature and reap physical and psychological benefits with every moment. • Enjoy a warm beverage and a bite to eat when we are done. Meet our certified guide and instructor, Carolyn Woods. Carolyn “Woodsy” Woods Is an Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) Certified Forest Therapy Guide. She has loved the outdoors & nature since she was 6 years old. Gardening with her father, Girl Scout camp and a lover of all in the more than human world brought her to this chapter of her life becoming a Forest Therapy Guide . Carolyn is a former Peace Corps volunteer (Dominican Republic), a Master Gardener, and a former counselor and teacher. She is excited to welcome you for a Forest Bathing Immersion experience into the woods that will connect you and your senses to nature - your birthright.
