About the Event
Remember the thrill and fun you had hula hooping as a child - or even watching the other kids swivel their hips, singing a little song to keep the hoop going - that shoop shoop shoop sound of the beads whipping around your waist. Who could do it the longest? Who could work it around their thighs, their knees, even around their neck?
It turns out that hula hooping is good for strengthening your core, it offers a little bit of cardio, and you can burn up to 400 calories an hour just hooping around.
Join us on Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, October 16th at Anacostia Park near the Aquatic Center (ample parking) for the first of two professional instructor-led hula hooping sessions. Kim Ryan, who creates custom hula hoops will provide us with hoops for each session, will measure your height and help you pick the right size hoop. She will guide us in very low-impact and great fun physical activity.
Do it for your heart. Come have fun for your health.
